Explosive Device Found Near Reservoir in Novaya Borova

On the territory of the reservoir near the village of Novaya Borova, a suspicious object resembling a grenade was discovered in a minibus owned by a local resident. The incident was reported to the police by alert drivers who noticed the object.

The driver, who found the explosive device, did not comply with the sobriety test when approached by authorities.

Police officers from Police Department No. 4 (Khoroshiv) of the Zhytomyr District Police Department arrived at the scene to investigate and gather information from witnesses and bystanders.

According to initial reports, a 30-year-old resident of Novaya Borova, under the influence of alcohol, got into a conflict with other vacationers at the reservoir. During the argument inside the minibus, he left behind an object resembling an F-1 grenade.

The police safely retrieved the explosive device and sent it for examination as part of an ongoing investigation.

Investigators are currently working to uncover all the details surrounding the incident within the framework of a criminal inquiry. The perpetrator could face imprisonment for a period of 3 to 7 years under Ukrainian law.

Additionally, the driver’s failure to submit to a sobriety test falls under Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, which may result in fines and the temporary suspension of their driving privileges.
