European countries tighten rules for Ukrainian refugees
European countries are cutting aid to Ukrainian refugees and introducing new rules restricting their rights. In particular, Poland plans to tighten control over the stay of Ukrainians on its territory and limit their travel to Ukraine.
New regulations coming in 2024
The new rules, which will come into effect in the autumn of 2024, provide that Ukrainians may lose their refugee status if they return to Ukraine even for a short period. Currently, Ukrainians can leave Poland for 30 days without the threat of losing their status.
