Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, announced at the annual shareholders meeting the company’s plans to «break new ground» in the field of generative artificial intelligence this year.
According to media reports, this announcement was made against the backdrop of Apple’s multi-billion dollar program to create an electric car being scaled back. Some employees from this project have been reassigned to the development of artificial intelligence.
Unlike its competitors, Apple has been cautious in its investments in generative AI. It is expected that new features based on artificial intelligence technologies will be introduced in Apple’s applications such as Siri, Spotlight, and Keynote.
As reported by Bloomberg, the corporation spends $1 billion a year on AI development, including its own model Ajax and a chatbot known as Apple GPT. Additionally, rumors suggest that the new iPhones will be equipped with special artificial intelligence chips, Neural Engine, with enhanced capabilities.
