American philanthropists have donated 50 modular homes to residents of villages in the Kharkiv region that were completely destroyed. This was reported by Maxim Kasyanenko, a representative of the charitable foundation «To Ukraine with Love», according to «Suspilne».
The foundation «To Ukraine with Love»
The foundation «To Ukraine with Love» raises funds in the USA from companies and private individuals to restore housing for Ukrainians who have lost their homes due to shelling. The modular homes were handed over to residents of the border villages of Slatino, Tsupivka and Prudianka in the Derhachiv community. The cost of one house varies from 28 to 55 thousand dollars.
Transparent Process of Selection
Maxim Kasyanenko notes that the process of selecting individuals in need of new housing is transparent. The foundation’s website publishes stories of affected families, with whom representatives of the organization meet, record their stories and take photos. The funds raised come from donors. During the resettlement, people have the opportunity to personally meet with the Americans who helped them.
Impact on Villagers
In the village of Slatino, located 12 km from the border with Russia, 76-year-old Lidia Balakareva received a modular home. For the past two years, Lidia had been living with acquaintances. The new house was installed next to her old one, which was destroyed as a result of Russian shelling at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
In Prudianka, the Povalaev family received a modular home, as their two-story house was destroyed due to shelling. The family spent the winter in temporary housing from donors from Utah. In the new house, only the internet was connected, all appliances are powered by electricity.
Future Plans
The head of the Derhachi military administration, Viacheslav Zadorenko, announced that 10 more such houses are planned to be installed in the community. Priority for modular housing will be given to military families, families with children, and elderly people.
