NATO Secretary-General Proposes Annual Funding of 40 Billion Euros for Ukraine

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has proposed that allies commit to providing annual financial support for Ukraine at a level of not less than 40 billion euros. This announcement came during a press conference in Prague following a meeting of foreign ministers from NATO member countries.

Stoltenberg highlighted the need for sustained military assistance to Ukraine, stating, «We must ensure at least 40 billion euros of military aid annually for as long as it is needed, starting in 2022.» He also called for NATO to take on a greater coordinating role in the supply of equipment and training to Ukraine, noting that the vast majority of military aid to Ukraine currently comes from allies through NATO.

Emphasizing the importance of preparation for the long term, Stoltenberg stated, «The better we prepare, the sooner this war will end. Russia must understand that it cannot withstand us.» He urged for continued support from NATO allies to help bring an end to the conflict.
