The Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic Urges European Allies to Support Ammunition Supply Initiative

The Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic, Jana Chernohova, has called on European allies to more actively support the Czech initiative to supply ammunition to Ukraine financially. Today, only four countries have fulfilled their financial obligations.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing Euractiv.

The initiative has attracted financial commitments from 18 countries, mostly EU and NATO members. The Czech Republic acts as an intermediary, coordinating memoranda of donors’ commitments and procurement agreements, as well as coordinating logistics for deliveries.

Although the number of countries promising support is growing, only some of them have already transferred funds.

«Money is coming in gradually; we cannot buy ammunition on credit. If some countries have signed memoranda but have not sent funds yet, we cannot start purchases. This is a call to those governments that have already signed memoranda to send the money,» Chernohova said, emphasizing the financial and logistical difficulties.

She also announced that only Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Portugal have provided financial support so far.
