The mayor of Kharkiv signs important cooperation agreement with UNDP

The mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terekhov, recently met with a delegation from the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine and signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement focuses on collaboration in restoring damaged infrastructure and improving the city’s energy efficiency.

Terekhov expressed appreciation for the UNDP’s previous assistance in clearing rubble, demolishing derelict buildings, and reconstructing housing. He emphasized the urgent need for additional resources to address the energy crisis following recent attacks on power plants and substations.

The UNDP’s Permanent Representative in Ukraine, Yako Silje, assured continued support for Kharkiv’s reconstruction efforts, particularly in repairing damaged infrastructure. The city has faced significant destruction from Russian shelling, with over half of apartment buildings and numerous infrastructure objects impacted. The total estimated damage amounts to $10 billion.
