Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been actively working to attract international business back to the country. This initiative aims to bring in new tax revenues, create jobs, and send a positive signal to investors.

In March 2022,

The Danish company JYSK and the multi-brand company Argo (Benetton, Mango, Desigual, Parfois, Sisley, Lee Coper, Vero Moda) started opening their stores in Ukraine. In April, the Polish retailer LPP — Reserved, Cropp, House, Mohito, and Sinsay resumed operations in Vinnytsia, Lviv, and Kyiv.

In May,

The French sports store chain Decathlon attempted to resume operations, but temporarily halted activities in Kyiv after an incident in Kremenchuk. However, in October, Decathlon stores reopened in the capital.

In July,

Adidas opened stores in Zhytomyr, Lviv, and Uzhhorod, and returned to Kyiv in August. In September, McDonald’s restaurants began to reopen, and H&M resumed operations in November.

In April 2023,

Stores belonging to Inditex (Zara, Zara Home, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho) opened in Kyiv, Lviv, Vinnytsia, and Cherkasy.

There are positive signals regarding the return of the Swedish brand IKEA, although the opening date of the store is still unknown.
