After the decision to suspend consular services for Ukrainian men of conscription age, a number of myths about this issue have appeared. This was reported by RBK-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Myth one: The decision applies to all Ukrainian men abroad.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explains that the suspension of services temporarily affects only men of conscription age (from 18 to 60 years old). After this period ends, consular services will be available again. Men in this category, who have clarified their details in accordance with the requirements of the law, will be able to seek consular assistance.
Myth two: Ukrainian men of conscription age are deprived of consular protection even in case of emergencies.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that in case of emergencies (such as road accidents, detentions, natural disasters), consular services will be provided to Ukrainian men of conscription age. In such cases, the status of men regarding military service is not taken into account.
