Implementation of new language regulations in Ukrainian print media

Article 25 of the Law «On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language» went into effect, requiring local print media to use the state language. The Secretariat of the authorized person for the protection of the state language reported on this development.

The law sets out specific requirements for Ukrainian-language print media, including having the same title, content, volume, and printing method. Each issue must also be sequentially numbered and published on the same day.

While subscriptions for print media in other languages are allowed, they must offer the option to subscribe to the same publication in Ukrainian within Ukraine.

Exceptions to these rules include publications in the Crimean Tatar language, other indigenous languages of Ukraine, English, and EU official languages. Scientific publications are also exempt from these regulations.
