This year, Ukraine will have enough funds in the budget for social payments
This year, Ukraine will have enough funds in the budget for social payments, including pensions and subsidies, thanks to a new aid package from the United States.
US funding package of almost $61 billion
Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal announced during a telethon that the new US funding package of almost $61 billion includes direct budget assistance.
American assistance provides confidence
«This is the part of the ‘budget puzzle’ that we were missing to close the budget deficit by the end of this year. We are confident that this year and next year we will finance all social payments, pensions, subsidies. American assistance provides confidence in fulfilling these obligations 100%,» he explained.
US funding approved by Congress
The US Congress approved this funding in April after a six-month delay. This funding includes direct budget support in the form of a loan that can be written off after the US presidential elections.
Support for working pensioners and foreign work experience
In particular, these funds will help pay pensions to over 650,000 working pensioners. Additionally, parliament has approved a bill that will allow for foreign work experience to be taken into account when calculating pensions.
