On August 14, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting to discuss the advance in the Kursk region of Russia. He announced this on his Telegram channel.

Participants in the meeting included the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, and other representatives of the executive branch.

Zelensky noted that among the key issues, besides security and humanitarian concerns, Ukraine is considering the possibility of establishing military command posts in controlled areas of Russia.

«Defending the right to self-defense and the lives of people in the border communities of Ukraine, our forces are conducting active operations on Russian territory while strictly adhering to the requirements of international conventions and humanitarian law,» the president emphasized.

Following the meeting, Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reported that Ukrainian forces have already established a sanitary zone in the Kursk region. According to international law, this zone will receive supplies of food, medicines, and other essential goods for the civilian population.
